Ingredients
- Chicken on bone (legs or whole chicken)
- Chicken bouillon, stock cube (or make your own)
- Boemboe for Soto (herb mix)
- Sambal Oelek (optional)
- 4 Potatos
- 4 Eggs
- Celery (selderij)
- Leek (prei)
- Beansprouts
- Fried onions
Serve with white rice and fried onions
Directions
- Bring to boil about 2 liters of water in a big pan.
- Add salt & pepper to the chicken legs
- Put the chicken in the pan and put on medium heat for about an hour.
- Hard boil the eggs
- Boil the potatoes, only till they are half cooked.
- Cut the leek and celery
- Slice boiled eggs and potatoes
- Check if the chicken is well cooked and add stock cube. If necessary add some boiled water.
- Take the chicken legs out and take off the bones and skin.
- Add the boemboe and the sambal to the boullion
- Then shred the chicken in pieces and throw them back into the soup.
- Add the leek, celery, potatoes and egg
- Serve with beansprouts and optional with rice and/or fried onions
Just made soup for 8 people and everybody was super excited! So much flavor, and you can as much spices as you want, so nobody was on fire without wanting to be 🙂
